Why Students fail to get good rank in GATE?

Most of the students starts their engineering just to get a engineering degree and to placed in some of the reputed Multi National Companies like Infosys, Accenture, TCS etc. All these companies don’t bother about the branch of the candidate into their selection process. All they are bothered about the candidate’s aptitude, verbal ability and soft skills.
So Student don’t focus much on concepts of the Engineering subjects and just want to clear the criteria for these companies which is mostly 65% through out their 10th,12th and B Tech.  Because of the nature of the evaluation process in engineering colleges, its not much difficult for students to get 65% in engineering so they generally don’t bother clearing their basic concepts of engineering.
They fill GATE application form because they have Rs. 1500 extra to fill the form or their friends are going to fill the form which in turn increases the number of application form. After filling the application form few don’t even bother attempting exam and others who go for exams, most of them are not prepared well to even understand all the question leave about answering them. Thus only competition left between serious aspirants who are not more than 15-20 K depending upon the branches.
Very few of the GATE aspirants get good rank they get admission into their dream IIT or get job into PSU.

The Life Changer Quote by Mark Twain

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover.

Managing Social Media Environments for Studies

With the increasing availability of internet,Students have started using Facebook and other social media (i.e. twitter, instagram, snapchat etc.) for connecting with their friends and sharing photos among them. But it’s also important for students to keep their studies up along with these fun activities. One opens up Facebook for simply checking out but they end up spending hours. It creates inefficiency in our endeavours. But There is one way to use Facebook as your companion in your studies.

Is it to stop using Facebook completely ? No, Its bit impossible for people to stop using Facebook totally since it help us connecting with people living miles aways even in other continents. So Now the Question comes, how to continue using Facebook and study at the same time? There are two major categories of contents over Facebook.

First, Trending News and Facebook Ads which is completely not in user control but it’s sometimes gives relevant information. It’s suggested not to open any of the irrelevant ads because it will waste your valuable time.

Second, What FB User has opted to view? These are friends you make, groups you join, pages you liked. This is the grey area where one need to work upon specially students. Here are some suggestions that you should use to make Facebook more study friendly.

For friends, You must have heard or experienced in your life, “Choose your friends and book wisely.” Reasons why to choose friends wisely ? First, Strong-willed friends can help increase your self-control. Second, Friends can greatly influence your choices. You can see how important, it is to choose good friends irrespective of be real life of your Facebook life. Sometimes it feel unsocial to remove somebody from your friend list who you don’t find Good. Simply Unfollow them and you will not get any post from them.(Its highly recommended if you are preparing for any exam.)

For Groups, Groups can be a very good idea for study. There are so many groups over the facebook which you can join but you should choose it wisely. You should only join those group which are helpful to you in some way.
For example, Let suppose you are preparing for an exam and you find a group of people who are also preparing for that exam. So it becomes easy for everyone to keep track of your preparation progress and notification from exam authorities like IITs, SSC,UPSC,UPPSC etc. You will easily get to know when the Application forms is coming and what is the last date to fill the form. Using Group as a platform you can ask queries and clear your doubts. .I have personally experience it and found it useful while preparing for my GATE exam. (Group Name is GATE Computer Science link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/core.cs/)

For facebook pages, We generally tend to like each and every pages that we find interesting. Facebook is nowadays has become a good way to make money by advertise and generate traffic by waste information. So refrain from such pages. However do follow your role modal means who you would like to be or like to follow by action. There work and achievements will motivate you to strive for your goal.

The Turning Point – A Untold Story

A child from a small village, and started living in a town. He was an average student soon was able to see the imaginary expectation of his parents. His routine was very much like other students like putting on dress, going to school, looking for his best third last row to be seated and reporting to class teacher if required. This way, he has somehow managed to completed upto 4th standard and this year he was in 5th. He was finding it difficult compare to previous years. One day, his Hindi teacher was absent. It was a best thing that could ever happen to him. Because he wouldn’t have to write anything even in the classroom. Just leave the misconception of he was even worried of studying them at home again. A substitute teacher came to the class and it was a moment of celebration for him. He used to sit in second or third last rows only because he had a mind set teacher only ask last bench student. After some time, Suddenly Teacher pointed towards him and asked him to stand up and read the third chapter with aloud. He was not even OK to read the Hindi book even. Since then he learned, “Bad luck can follow you wherever you go.Even though you plan things in best possible manner.” Meanwhile Teacher has already noticed, “how lame he was in reading Hindi even ?”. Teacher asked him to stop reading after he any how completed a passage. Teacher came to him and asked the question, “Do you know? Which one is rapidly catch the fire among Petrol,Kerosene and Coal ? ” Student – “Petrol” (answered simply ) Teacher – You are right but Do you have any idea why the Blacksmith uses Coal instead of using Petrol ? (Very politely ) Student – No ( answered with scared of stick in teacher’s hand ) Teacher – Lemme tell you the reason, “Coal has better potential to melt the even iron because of its persistence to maintain the temperature.”

(Again Teacher told something very meaning full )

Teacher – There are three kind of students, first, “One who learn the things like petrol”, second, “one who catch thing slowly with small initial effort” and third, “One who grasp the things after lot of hard work.” Further he said to student, you falls in third category. You will have to put more effort and time to learn things than other student but you have more potential than others. You will have to work even harder if you are making thing the way you want. What’s holding back India to become Digital India?

India is currently the second top software exporter in the world and IT sector solely contributes more than 7.5% to the GDP of the country[Ref]. That is the reason why our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said “IT + IT =  IT” in many conferences i.e.
Information Technology + Indian Talent = India Tomorrow
It’s really difficult to go ahead with our old and traditional way of administration rather we need a new way or IT way to administer and to give a efficient and effective governance.
Current Progress
Central Government and many state government has started using IT tools for effective and efficient governance eg. Integrated Grievance Resolution System(IGRS), Aaple Sarkar, RTI Online, Pardarshi Kisan Yojna Portal for the farmers and recent launch of UP Government, Anti-Bhoo Mafia Portal.
All these portals are having one common goal of providing citizens effective and efficient governance.
Recently NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India) has also came up with the new product i.e BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) works on the concept of UPI( unified payment interface) and it was launched with goal of making India Cashless and it has really changed the way of common banking upto some extend. In addition to promote the cashless payment through this application, Schemes like Lucky Grahak Yojana for consumers and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana for merchants was also launched.
DBTL (Direct Benifit Transfer in LPG) or  ‘पहल’ (प्रत्यक्ष हस्तांतरित लाभ) has been a huge success story and it has paved the way for future Subsidy Management for the government using Aadhar. Accordingly government is planning to implement the DBT in Ration Distribution at Fair Price Shops.
Problems
Even though we are moving ahead with a good pace in using IT tools for administration and governance but still we are lagging behind. Mainly because of
  • Citizens are not much aware about all these tools and even if they get to know about it. They are not using it because it less tangible in nature or they have lost trust in these system.
  •  No State has made any law to make all these tools of e-Governance more effective and accountable.
  • It has been more than a decade since RTI Act 2005 was enacted but majority of the states have not gone digital for giving information.
  •  In most of the Grievance Resolution portals (eg.IGRS, Aple Sarkar), Grievances do resolve in system but not on ground. There is no well established laid down procedure to resolving these grievances.  Anti-Bhoo Mafia Portal is new entrant in these list so its credibility is yet to be tested.
Way Ahead
  • Sates governments are spending huge sum of money for developing same kind of governance solutions like Grievance Redressal System, RTO Service,Police Complaint etc. They should sign an MoU for same and can have a common IT System( i.e. Mobile App or Website ) for each and every state. With Localization facility, we can have same site in multiple languages.
  • Central Government and State Governments should advertise these IT Solutions through various medium to spread awareness in masses like they does for “Vote Taking  Schemes
  • In Grievance Redressal Systems, Each and Every Grievances should be mandatory closed by Citizens with feedback rather than Government Staff because these staffs can close these Grievance without actually taking any action.
  • Availability and Credibility of all these IT solutions must be ensured.
Even with all these above countermeasures, it’s really important to train the goverment employee to gear up themselves to accept these changes and government should conduct training programs to focus on its employees’ skill set development.Government Employee are very much reductant to use these new technology specially those who are about to retire. To promote the usage of all these IT tools for effective and efficient governance, Government should provide mobile, laptop and printers at a concessional rate.
Its a good sign that we have well identified the need of these tool and this itself is a good sign of positive development. Already people are getting benifited out of these tools. We can hope a good progress in near future.
